Open Positions

The UC Irvine Institute for Immunology is seeking post-doctoral fellowship candidates for the following research programs:

Translational Human Immunology Laboratory

Job Opening: Postdoctoral Fellow position, Wagar Laboratory in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, University of California, Irvine

Job Location: Translational Human Immunology Laboratory (PI Lisa Wagar), Department of Physiology and Biophysics, University of California Irvine.

Job Description: The mission of our laboratory is to investigate the human adaptive immune response to infectious diseases, vaccines, and self-antigens using immune organoid technologies. Our long-term goal is to elucidate the mechanisms of diseases mediated by adaptive immune cells and identify immunotherapeutic interventions. We are currently seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to lead a study on the development of self-reactive T and B cells, where the candidate will identify features that cause or predict disruption in immune tolerance. There will be opportunities to publish research papers and to contribute to collaborative projects ongoing in the lab. This is a 2-year position with option to renew after two years.

Qualifications: Successful candidates will have a strong background in one or more of the following research areas: human immunology, organoid technology, and/or antigen-specific T or B cell identification. In addition, the candidate should have experience working with primary human samples and be capable of working independently and in a team environment. Interest in learning about bioengineering or biomaterials, familiarity with flow cytometry, and experience working under BSL2 precautions are a plus.
Inquiries about the position should be directed to Lisa Wagar, PhD: lwagar@uci.edu.

Application Martials: Applicants should complete the application profile and upload the following application materials electronically to be considered for the position: 1) A statement describing your experience and future research goals; 2)
A brief statement describing your commitment to an inclusive research environment; 3) Curriculum vitae; 4) Names and contact information for 3-4 references.

Immune Regulation

The Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Immune Regulation Lab is currently seeking multiple candidates at the post-doctoral level to uncover new insights into immune regulation. We study how adjuvants program immune responses; how checkpoint blockade modulates tumor-associated T regulatory (Treg) cells; and how Treg cells selectively fine-tune CNS autoimmunity, using state-of-the-art Immunoimaging approaches pioneered at UCI by our Chair Prof. Michael D. Cahalan.(https://www.faculty.uci.edu/profile.cfm?faculty_id=2150).

Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidates will have a strong background in immunology and/or cell biology, experience with fluorescence microscopy is highly desirable.

Application Procedure

Applicants require:
• Curriculum Vitae
• A research statement describing your experience and future goals
• Names and contact information for 3-4 references

Inquiries can be made to Dr. Othy (sothy@uci.edu), Dr. Marangoni (f.marangoni@uci.edu), or Prof. Cahalan (mcahalan@uci.edu)
