Dr. Zahedi’s lab focuses on translational research and the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in neurotrauma and neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s and ALS. Mitochondrial damage is a key driver of immune cell dysregulation in many inflammation-related diseases. Our work leverages human genetics, mitochondria-based therapeutics, and human iPSC-based models to uncover new insights into mechanisms of metabolism-mediated immune dysregulation and potential personalized therapeutic strategies. At Zahedi Lab, we are committed to making meaningful progress in the fight against neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases.
