Dr. Pannunzio was recruited from the University of Southern California in July 2019. His research program is on V(D)J rearrangements in B cell malignancies, specifically the roles of AID and the Artemis endonuclease in the DNA double-strand breaks that result in chromosomal translocations in hematopoietic malignancies. He currently has 2 URM graduate student researchers in his laboratory, Valeria Rangel and Melissa Folkerts. These students are the first in their families to pursue a doctorate degree and are training grant eligible. Dr. Pannunzio recently received an R01 from the NCI.
