Research Interests

The research in my laboratory focuses on designing and fabricating biomaterials using nature-inspired approaches.  These materials enable new strategies for health-related applications such as cancer, drug delivery, and regenerative medicine.  Our research has focused on materials that can activate or suppress immunological responses.  In particular, studies have included nanoparticles that are designed to elicit strong immune responses against cancer antigens by mimicking the structure and cargo of viruses, and modifications on implanted surfaces for decreasing inflammatory responses.  We also investigate biomaterial strategies that can be tuned to impart controlled drug-release profiles.
